Mountain View Learning Academy is nestled in the beautiful foothills of Alpine behind Creekside and Shadow Hills. Our school is a personalized educational program that offers on-site classes up to three days a week. These classes focus on personalized learning in the following core areas: writing, reading, math, algebra, S.T.E.A.M., and physical education. Our multi-age classrooms allow students to work at their academic level receiving instruction that meets their needs. Extracurricular opportunities include student council and visual arts.
When students are not on-site they are working at home on their individually designed lesson plans. Our state certified teachers work with parents to design lesson plans that meet the student’s academic needs as well as the state standards. It is important to note that all "at home plans" and books are provided free of charge.
In addition to the on-site classes and individually designed lesson plans we offer fabulous field trips. These field trips are educational and fun for the whole family. In the past we have visited: Sea World, Birch Aquarium, Eagle Mine, Old Town, San Juan Capistrano Mission, Julian Wolf Encounter, Riley Farms, Chula Vista Nature Center, Natural History Museum, the Space Theater, and much more. Further, our students have access to transportation services, school cafeterias, playgrounds, and sports fields.
Mountain View has been a part of Alpine School District for over 20 years and our flexible class schedule caters to a wide range of people. Many of our students are competitive athletes or dancers and Mountain View's unique schedule allows students to balance training and academics. M.V.L.A. students recently completed their "Catapult Challenge" and it was a huge success! The students conducted research on catapults and then engineered their very own. Students spent weeks expanding and improving their engineering creations in order to make sure their catapults were ready for the "Challenge." The catapults hurled mini-marshmallows anywhere from 60 inches to 435 inches! It was very exciting to see the devices in action and all of the engineers were extremely proud of their catapults! It was an amazing S.T.E.M. project!
